What I realize about this activity actually came about through a completely unrelated area. But the viewpoint is what hit home. The concept behind practice is the experience it gives. That experience can then be evaluated to derive a benefit. Practice by itself doesn't necessarily provide a benefit. You must know what your intention is as you practice any activity so you can really see what you're gaining, and if you're gaining anything at all.
For some people it can be awfully tough to start practicing in the first place. It's much easier if you digest the information in the first nine chapters of this book. It really is all about communication. Again, what we don't understand we won't communicate effectively enough to do a good job.
