Chapter 5

Excerpts from "Vested Interest"

The Road Map
Your Production Plan

I've found that the more you can put your plan in writing the stronger your understanding becomes, and it's your understanding, along with your intention to do it, that allows whatever you want to happen.
In the area of setting up your production plan we want to be as clear as possible about exactly what we are working to accomplish. We want to look at as many solutions as we can. The reason for this is simple. Over time I have observed that not everyone will play and I have learned that for those who do play, each one does it slightly differently. So I want to be realistic. What I mean here is you need to understand your capability and the capability of others.
You want to build to accomplish your objective. If you build for any other reason, and don't balance it with the right structure, you won't get what's available. This is a business, not a race. It takes time and effort. If you plan your work and work your plan, you'll get the prize. If you don't get help (vested interest) you'll be doing this alone, and that's not networking.

In your plan the targets should be set so you can win; in other words, set up your activities so you get that feeling that you can do this. I always feel better when I'm winning at life, versus losing. The plan should match your character and ability, with the understanding that you'll work on what you don't know so you can learn as quickly as possible. If you run up against too many obstacles you can get discouraged and, of course, we don't want to go there.
