Over the past 20 years, I have developed a worldwide distribution network with thousands of distributors that are doing business in over 40 countries. By learning how this business works, along with the success of those who've joined me, I've created a business that has allowed me to do what I want. What's even more exciting is that this is going to continue for a very long time.

I'm 58 and I live with my life partner Debbie in Lexington MA along with Chris and our two Cats Right now I am very actively working on expanding my business which allows me to reach more people. This Nikken lifestlye has been extremely rewarding on all aspects of my life and now work is not work, it's fun.

My story goes back a few years! I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada. It was here that I got my first job selling insurance. It was a great experience particularly because I got a taste for the "unlimited upside" or "the sky is the limit" potential.

In 1975, I felt that I had outgrown Winnipeg so I moved to Vancouver. Here is where I was first introduced to "networking." I joined Amway because the idea of earning a residual income caught my attention. I really thought it was the neatest idea that I had ever heard of. The thought of making "a little bit of money every time somebody bought a product" was a thought that would stay with me throughout all my ups and downs in my networking career (and there were plenty of them). Well, needless to say, Amway and networking only lasted for a few months. I knew that the "potential" existed but it just wasn't working fast enough for me. I decided that I really didn't understand the business. I spent more than I made and I couldn't help those that joined me. So...I quit.

Next, I developed a publishing business and then an import business. These ventures were what led me to California. By 1980, I decided that Los Angeles was the place where I could really make it. Of course I didn't have a legal way in, but I moved in anyway. For 6 years, I was an illegal alien. I worked in construction and in networking. In reality, neither were making me enough money and I just couldn't seem to get ahead.

In 1982, I made the move to the investment industry. I started to do quite well and in 1986, I became president of an investment company. With the Amnesty of 1986, I was able to turn myself in and obtain a Green Card. Finally, I felt home free. I left the investment company that I was with and went off on my own. Now I could be the entrepreneur that I had always dreamed of becoming. I didn't have much experience but I still gave it my best shot. Over the next 4 years, I started two businesses. Unfortunately, they both ended up closing down.

I was literally "scratching my head" trying to figure out what to do. I had lost all my money, went bankrupt and was unemployable. It was the fall of 1990 when I got a call from an old friend.

"Dave, there is this new Japanese company selling magnets and I think you should get involved." Yeah, ok. At first, I turned him down because I had taken this route before and experienced no success. He kept at it and because I had no other offers, I joined him. I didn't have any money so I had to borrow a credit card to get the initial product. With $3800 in product, I set out on what would be one of the greatest journeys of my life.

I made it to Silver, the first leadership position, in my second month with a volume of 48,000 and with 48 distributors. My income goal was $8,000 per month and I had already made it half way. I was excited so I just kept on going. I made it to Gold, the second leadership position, two months later. I ran an ad in the Los Angeles Times, one guy joined me and he made it to the Silver rank. I made it to Platinum, the third leadership position, by the end of my first year. I ended up earning an income of $119,000 for that year and had 40 leaders in my business!

In the spring of 1992, I got side tracked with another opportunity in the digital telecommunications business. I thought I could handle both so I turned my attention toward this. I believed that if I had set up the right foundation, the Company would grow on its own and the money would keep rolling in. For 3 1/2 years, I was not engaged in any active roll with the business. I happened to luck out in the booming digital industry and made a ton of money.

I diversafied and even produced a movie Digi Digital. One of these days I will load it up on this site.

It turned out that telecommunications was a limited venture. By 1994, I was 43 and contemplating an early retirement planning on living off investments. Fortunately my Nikken business was doing fine and continued to provide some cash flow but it really needed to be rebuilt.

The next you know, the company contacted me with a lead and before you knew it, I was off and running again. I reached the Diamond level, the fourth leadership position, in the summer of 1996. This doubled my income to over $50,000 per month.  My organization was exploding and so was the company (see detailed statistics in Vested Interest book). Man, life was really getting interesting.

Now the reality of reaching the top became much clearer. For two years I continued to build my business, I held weekly meetings and did monthly trainings and before you know it I was there.

In the summer of 1998, I reached the top rank of Royal Diamond. What a trip! My income doubled again and I was earning a six-figure monthly income. It only took 7 years to turn an annual income into a monthly income. I even took 3 and a half years off.

In 1999 I wrote my book Vested Interest, something I never thought I would do. This then led me to teaching others and spending my time with those in my organization who were building. But at the same I spent more time with my family.  I have just finished the first rough draft of my newest book on understanding the compensation plan. Look for its release in late summer of 2010.

I now work from my home offices, located in Lexington Ma. Naples Florida,  and around the world. I work with the greatest friends I could ever have in some of the most exciting places you could imagine. (I hope you enjoy the photos)

As I reflect back on my business career with Nikken, with all the great people I met and know it has by far been the best thing I've done in a long , long time. It wasn't always easy, I know but it sure was worth it.

I have to tell you, it's an awesome feeling to be free, to have the control to get up with the idea of what your doing is fun and enjoyable and not to worry about money anymore.  I know that with the opportunity that we have today all of our lives are going to change.

 Best,  Dave
